After all these years I’m ready to break-down and get my first Digital SLR. I bought this 35mm N80 back in 2001 at a camera store in Sacramento… I forget the name of the place. But I got this just when the first semi-affordable DSLR’s were being produced. Those were still highly expensive for my budget at that time.

Looking back, I wish I had just made the jump to digital. The N80 served me well during our time together, but it wound up costing me a small fortune getting all the images I took developed and digitized. (I posted most of my work in various online galleries.) It got to be so much of a hassle until I all but quit doing serious photography back in 2007. Actually… it wasn’t just an issue of budget, there were some other setbacks I was going through at the time. So this has just been sitting in my closet the last several years… totally decommissioned. .

I’m feeling it again, and I’m a little tired of taking pictures with my cell phone. So I’m now looking to get a reasonably priced camera body. I’m presently weighing my options as far as brands go. I’m leaning more towards Nikon, because that’s my preferred manufacturer and I already own a series of compatible lenses. I also know I would prefer a model that has the kind of LCD Monitor that’s adjustable and can be viewed from any angle, like the Nikon D5100. (Not pictured below, I just like the color!) I’d also like whatever model I choose to be able to shoot video at 1080p Full HD… it’s my understanding that a few feature length films are being shot entirely with these DSLR’s. I’ve no plans to produce any low-budget movies at this time, but I still find that prospect appealing.

On the odd chance I don’t invest in an SLR this year, then I will definitely pick up one of the Olympus PEN models. (A small Rangefinder type.) Nice price, compact, and just as powerful. (imo) I should have a confident decision made about this by the end of February. I will keep this topic updated with what happens.

I watch this now, and it kind of trips me out. Because it’s been so long since I’ve done anything like that… it seems like a lifetime ago. I’ve also been down on my luck lately, (No details.) that’s probably part of it too.

Until I can work up the nerve to post some new material… I’ve got some more of this old stuff. Even some old concert footage. Since I don’t blog as often as others, I figure I may as well post SOMETHING. I don’t make YouTube videos anymore… but I don’t mind posting some of my older material.

I’m not very imaginative when it comes to media like this, I don’t have much to offer as far as witty dialogue goes.  So for now, the shorts will be based true events I’ve experienced… all 40 years worth.

This first one takes place at a Formal Party I attended at some point in the early 1990′s. I won’t give too many details, because I might end up offending certain real-life parties. (Like I care!) But no real names but mine will be used.

I’ll restore the production values to their former glory as we move along. But for now… baby steps.

I was just cleaning out my attic and I found my old Windows-powered Pocket PC. I was rocking this device long before I had a smartphone, iPad, or anything. I can’t find the charger, so I can’t turn it on. The memory card is gone too. I’m still reluctant to throw it away… but I’m also trying to do away with my pack-rat mentality.

Seven years ago, I used this to keep track of my apointments, e-mails, and browse the web. It also served as my primary media player at one point in time. All of this I can do with my Android Phone now… and then some.

So it’s time to say bye-bye.

Each individual site is administered by a WONDERFUL lady. Each of these women is a person whose shown me respect, high regard and or support at one point in my unremarkable life or another. In other words… PEOPLE WHO MATTER.

One of these women is even The Firstborn’s younger sister in real life, but I won’t say which though. Give you a hint… her blog is about women’s beauty and fashion… so me promoting her page must be out of love. Otherwise, do I strike you as someone whose into women’s beauty and fashion? Have I ever? Think it over…

Oh yeah… this isn’t just me posting random links to curry these women’s favor… I feel each  of them’s content has something special and worthwhile to offer to readers, and I speak earnestly.

There are other people who’ve been there for me and aren’t listed here… that’s only because these are the only ones I can find who have websites of their own. Don’t feel left-out if I didn’t mention you.

It’s not that I’m looking for acclaim or anything like that. (Otherwise, I’d be posting videos to YouTube five times a week.) I even can’t guarantee anything I do here will even be interesting or insightful… I just do this for my own amusement, to be honest.

For starters, I’m moving back to this here WordPress page. Tumblr is ok, but it has it’s limitations. And don’t expect any podcasts or videos like in years prior… at least not right away. I think most of my content will be written editorials for the time being. Baby steps, you know?

In fact, I went ahead and deleted most of my more controversial posts from the archive. So if you come across anything I posted before today and you feel it’s a bit out there… it’s obviously something I missed, please let me asap know so I can erase it.

Oh, and one other thing… I MIGHT be dropping my old JANUS handle. (The screen-name I’ve been using since the 90′s.) I do not post anonymously online, so I don’t really see a need for it. That’s a big “maybe”, we’ll see how this goes.

But, in the meantime… “HELLO, my nickname is DOUGAN… pleased to meet ya!” 

No hot topic… just a Late-Night audio. Just shooting the time until my sleeping medication kicks in. I’m mainly just reacquainting myself with my audience.
